Chef-owner
Essam Moneim started out his cooking career in the kitchen of the
Food Preparation Academy in Alexandria, Egypt over two decades ago. After
his graduation, he received training in Ramada Hotel in Alexandria. His
work experience as a chef includes the Sheraton Hotel and Alexandria VIP
Club in Alexandria. Essam also worked for the Royal Family in Egypt. El Rancho Restaurant in Evergreen, Colorado was the next step in his culinary career after immigrating to United States. Gaining valuable experience in “other kitchens” and winning fans with his cooking, and the hummus, baba ganouj, maskah or chicken, beef or lamb kabobs give ample proof why, Essam decided to open his own “Aladdin Restaurant” in Evergreen, CO. Than, in 1995 he met his future wife, who would lead him to Chicago and his current Sphinx Café Restaurant in Niles, Illinois. At Sphinx Café he continues to focus on creating the most healthful and authentic versions of Mediterranean foods. His menu presents the kind of addictive fare that gives this exotic food a good home in the town of Niles and keeps you coming back and back and back for more. |
